Hello to all, 

My name is John Barger and I am the 7th and 8th grade English teacher here at Calvary Christian School.  I also am the drama director.  I have a love for literature and theater and I collect classic movies.  My favorite bible verse is Isaiah 53:5. 

In my English classes we write everyday and we are very interactive.  We discuss such authors as William Shakespeare and Mark Twain and we do intensive projects on such writers.  I focus heavily on polishing grammar skills and we also do vocabulary and spelling work constantly.  All in all, my classes are a time to learn and experience the wonderful world of English Literature.

I try to make my Jr. and Sr. High Drama classes a fun-filled experience for all involved……me included.  We work on short works such as monologues and short skits, and we also generally put on a bigger production towards the end of the year.  Last year, we did Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and this year, we are working on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  Although much work is involved, we always seem to have a blast as we practice and perform! 

I feel as though God has blessed me with this job, and I am so thankful for it.  I went to this school the year it opened as a seventh grader.  Now, I am back here, working alongside my parents and I have a daughter attending our kindergarten.  In more ways than one, this place is part of my family!!!!
